President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey Hakan Fidan at the Palace of the Nation on 10 January.

During the meeting, issues of co-operation between Tajikistan and Turkey were discussed.

At the beginning of the meeting, President Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the current process of developing ties and called further expansion of multifaceted and long-term bilateral cooperation in line with the interests of the states.

During the meeting, the sides noted the need to further strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially in economic and social spheres, and also expressed support for the intensification of this process.

The development of co-operation between Tajikistan and Turkey in the field of economy, trade, industry and investments was named as one of the important directions of relations between the two states.

It was stressed that the systematic activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, holding forums of entrepreneurs and exhibitions of production goods of the two states can become an effective means of promoting bilateral co-operation.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on further development and expansion of ties in education, science, culture and tourism.

The holding of cultural days on each other's territory was named as one of the measures that seriously contribute to the strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties.

During the meeting, the sides also discussed topical regional and global issues, including the political situation in Afghanistan and Palestine.
