Turkmenistan can become an important transport hub between Europe and Asia
Turkmenistan can become an important transport hub between Europe and Asia. Turkmenistan has a modern port infrastructure on the Caspian Sea, the importance of which as an international corridor for cargo transit on the continent is only growing, said Batyr Annaev, Deputy Director General of the Transport and Communication Agency under the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, at the opening of the Global Gateway Investors Forum in Brussels.

The forum brought together government, financial institutions, business representatives from Europe, Central Asia and other countries. Participants discuss the necessary investments and actions to turn the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor into a multimodal and efficient route connecting Europe and Central Asia.

Presenting Turkmenistan's transport opportunities, B. Annaev noted that in recent years the country has actively invested in infrastructure development, including railway, road, air and sea routes. The Turkmenbashi International Sea Port with a capacity of 25 million tonnes per year is a major transport hub in the west of the country with access to world trade routes.

Cooperation between the Central Asian countries and the EU in the field of transport is an important contribution to strengthening economic ties in the region, he stressed, inviting all interested parties to discuss specific transport cooperation projects.
