Kyrgyzstan to Expand Fish Production and Exports
On August 23, Kyrgyzstan's Minister of Water Resources, Bakyt Torobayev, inaugurated the construction of two fish processing plants in the Chui region.
The first plant in Leninskoye will process up to 3,000 tons of fish annually, while the second in Ak-Jol will produce a variety of fish products, creating 45 jobs.
Kyrgyzstan currently produces 30,000 tons of fish annually, exporting 5,000 tons. Torobayev stressed the need to increase production to 105,000 tons and boost exports to 50,000 tons. In 2023, the country exported 5,556 tons of fish, primarily to Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Lithuania.
