Happy Saint Stephen’s Day, Hungary!
Today, Hungary celebrates Saint Stephen’s Day — the nation’s most important holiday, commemorating the foundation of the Hungarian state and the adoption of Christianity over a millennium ago.
It was on this day in 1083 that King Stephen I, Hungary’s first monarch, was canonized, becoming a symbol of statehood, unity, and spiritual values of the Hungarian nation.
Warm congratulations to the people of Hungary on this historic occasion, with wishes for peace, prosperity, and continued progress.
As an observer state in the Organization of Turkic States, Hungary actively engages in OTS initiatives and strengthens its ties with the countries of Central Asia. Notably, the informal OTS Summit in Budapest marked the first time such a meeting was held in an observer country, underscoring Hungary’s growing role as a bridge between East and West.
