The 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference opened in Samarkand — the first session held outside Paris in nearly 40 years.
More than 2,800 participants from 190 countries attended the event, including around 70 high-ranking officials.
During the opening ceremony, Audrey Azoulay reflected on her tenure, stating:
“UNESCO has gone through difficult times in recent years but has become more transparent and adaptable.”
