Uzbekistan Secures Tariff Preferences for Transit Through Kuryk Port
The railway administrations of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed on preferential rates for shipping fertilizers and oil products through Kuryk toward Georgian ports. This opens up more favourable terms for Uzbekistan’s exports to European markets via the Caspian and the Caucasus.
Kuryk is among the closest maritime outlets available to Uzbekistan. Following dredging works in 2024, ferry handling time there fell from 20 to 12 hours, while cargo capacity rose by 500 tonnes.
