During his working visit to Ankara, Javlon Vakhabov, Deputy Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Foreign Policy and Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, met with Ambassador A. Berris Ekinci, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye.

The meeting focused on the outcomes of the official visit of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Türkiye in January 2026, as well as the fourth meeting of the Türkiye–Uzbekistan High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. It was noted that the agreements reached during the visit gave new momentum to cooperation in trade, investment, transport, energy, education, culture, and people-to-people ties.

Javlon Vakhabov emphasized that relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye have acquired a systematic and strategically structured character. He noted that the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council, the Joint Strategic Planning Group, the Intergovernmental Commission, interparliamentary contacts, and the new 4+4 mechanism together form a mature architecture of cooperation between the two countries.

The sides also discussed cooperation within the Organization of Turkic States, as well as the broader agenda of engagement between Türkiye and Central Asia. Javlon Vakhabov noted that Türkiye plays an important role in transforming Turkic cooperation from a cultural idea into a practical platform for political, economic, transport, educational, and expert engagement.

For her part, Ambassador Ekinci underscored the Turkish side’s interest in further giving practical substance to the agreements reached between the two countries. She also emphasized the importance of maintaining close coordination on regional and international issues, including security, sustainable development, connectivity, and strengthening cooperation across the Turkic world.
