Javlon Vakhabov Meets with Washington Secretary of State Steve Hobbs
During his working visit to Seattle, Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, met with Steve Hobbs, the 16th Secretary of State of Washington.

The parties discussed opportunities for further developing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the State of Washington, including stronger business ties, expanded institutional engagement, educational and cultural exchanges, and the promotion of humanitarian contacts.

Javlon Vakhabov noted that the opening of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Seattle creates an important institutional mechanism for closer engagement with government agencies and public circles in Washington state. According to him, the Consulate can serve as a practical platform for advancing joint initiatives, supporting contacts with the Uzbek diaspora, and expanding cultural, educational, and humanitarian ties.

It was separately emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested in developing sustainable engagement not only with U.S. federal institutions, but also with individual states that have significant potential for practical cooperation. In this context, Washington state is viewed as an important partner for building long-term ties among institutions, expert communities, and universities.

For his part, Secretary Hobbs noted that Washington state is open to developing constructive contacts with Uzbekistan and is interested in strengthening direct dialogue with new international partners. He emphasized that Uzbekistan’s expanded presence in Seattle creates additional opportunities for residents of the state to gain a better understanding of the country’s modern development, culture, and cooperation potential.
