Javlon Vakhabov Meets with Congresswoman Carol Miller in Washington
During his visit to Washington, D.C., Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, met with U.S. Representative Carol Miller of West Virginia.

The meeting focused on further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, expanding interparliamentary dialogue, developing trade and investment cooperation, and advancing engagement on key regional and international issues.

Javlon Vakhabov noted that relations between Uzbekistan and the United States have become increasingly practical and results-oriented in recent years. He emphasized that the intensification of political dialogue, growing interest from American businesses in Uzbekistan, and expanding contacts with the U.S. Congress are creating an important foundation for taking the bilateral partnership to a new level.

Particular attention was given to the role of the U.S. Congress in promoting long-term engagement with Uzbekistan. In this context, the importance of continued support for legislative initiatives aimed at repealing outdated restrictions under the Jackson–Vanik Amendment was highlighted, as well as the need to create more favorable conditions for trade, investment, and the participation of American companies in projects in Uzbekistan.

For her part, Congresswoman Miller noted that her visit to Uzbekistan in 2025 allowed her to see firsthand the scale of reforms underway in the country and the potential for bilateral cooperation. She emphasized her interest in further strengthening interparliamentary ties, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and advancing practical projects in the economy, energy, industry, and agriculture.
