International Institute for Central Asia participated in the conference "NEW CENTRAL ASIA: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE ERA OF GLOBAL TRANSFORMATION"
This Forum was cohosted by the International Institute for Strategic and Intraregional Studies under the President, The International Institute for Central Asia, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Uzbekistan.
Indeed, there hasn’t been a single time in the modern history of Central Asia when all the countries were unprecedentedly united, supportive of each other, and increasingly engaged around a solid commitment to building a more prosperous and peaceful region.
In his remarks, director Javlon Vakhabov gave an overview of regional mechanisms established in the past for deeper and broader cooperation within Central Asia and models created worldwide and shared his assessment on which of them might best fit current dynamics in this part of the world. Obviously, Central Asia has its own path and model, and there is no need to reinvent the wheel. But studying international experiences with its advantages and disadvantages, thoughtfully considering all pros and cons, and adapting them to Central Asia’s conditions is critical too.
