The conference was organized by the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication of Azerbaijan Republic jointly with the OTS Secretariat.

Speaking at the session on “Innovation for Sustainable Development: Policy Frameworks and Economic Transformation,” Azamat Toshev outlined opportunities for developing economic cooperation within the OTS in such areas as digital trade and the establishment of a unified digital economic ecosystem, the impact of artificial intelligence on economic transformation, and human capital.

The expert highlighted the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to establish, within the OTS, a network for strategic cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, noting that this area remains a priority.

To further strengthen practical cooperation, at the initiative of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OTS Technology Forum 2026 will be held on September 22–25 this year as part of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026. The Forum will focus on advancing cross-border innovation, developing common digital infrastructure, and exploring ways to integrate the startup ecosystems of the OTS member states into a single regional market.

According to the IICA representative, amid the transformation of the global economy, the development of human capital and deeper cooperation in science, education, and youth engagement remain of strategic importance.

Therefore, Uzbekistan attaches priority importance to the implementation of such projects as the Young Leaders Forum, the Young Entrepreneurs Forum, and the International Youth Festival in Khiva as part of the international initiative “Turkic World Youth Capital — 2026.”

Concluding his remarks, Azamat Toshev emphasized the need to consolidate efforts to implement strategically important interregional projects aimed at improving the efficiency of transport routes and integrating digital solutions.
