The conversation addressed the priority areas of the Uzbekistan–Japan strategic partnership, as well as engagement within the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue.
Particular attention was given to the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to Tokyo in December 2025.
Javlon Vakhabov commended the momentum of the Uzbekistan–Japan strategic partnership. In his view, the agreements reached at the highest level are being consistently translated into practice, providing a foundation for broader cooperation in the economy, education, human capital development, and regional connectivity.
It was noted that the bilateral agenda is naturally complemented by multilateral engagement. In this context, the role of the "Central Asia + Japan" Dialogue was highlighted as one of the sustained mechanisms for bringing Japan closer to the countries of the region.
For her part, Eri Arfiya noted that Uzbekistan is an important strategic partner of Japan in Central Asia. She underscored the positive momentum of bilateral engagement and expressed Japan's readiness to further advance cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue their working dialogue on implementing Uzbekistan–Japan agreements and on developing expert engagement within the "Central Asia + Japan" framework
