During the program, the IICA fellows took part in a roundtable at the University of Tokyo, which addressed prospects for advancing cooperation between Central Asia and Japan, practical mechanisms for implementing the agreements reached at the highest level, and ways to expand expert and academic engagement between the two sides.

The program also featured meetings at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Parliament of Japan, where views were exchanged on the current state and prospects of Uzbekistan–Japan relations.

In addition, the IICA fellows familiarized themselves with the work of the University of Tsukuba, Kyoto University, the University of Tokyo, and Hokkaido University. They studied the approaches of Japanese universities to advancing international academic cooperation, running academic mobility programs, training specialists on Central Asia, and organizing joint research projects.

A separate track of the program was familiarization with the work of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Japan. Particular attention was given to the information and analytical support of Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation and the promotion of Uzbekistan's foreign policy initiatives, as well as to engagement with Japanese governmental, expert, and academic communities.

The outcomes of the fellowship helped expand professional contacts with the Japanese expert and academic community and deepen IICA's engagement with Japan's leading research and educational centers.
