IICA and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Discuss Opportunities for Cooperation
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a meeting between IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov and Philipp Jahn, Director of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation's Regional Office in Central Asia.

The two discussed prospects for building a partnership between the two organizations, including the development of joint research and expert initiatives on current issues of the regional agenda.

Opening the meeting, Javlon Vakhabov outlined the Institute's main areas of work, its research profile, and its experience in hosting multilateral expert platforms bringing together think tanks from the countries of Central Asia and partners abroad.

The IICA Director underscored the value of working with European research institutions. In his view, regular engagement between the expert communities of the two regions helps build a more accurate understanding of the processes underway in Central Asia and shapes practical approaches to advancing interregional dialogue.

Philipp Jahn, for his part, confirmed the priority that Central Asia holds in the Foundation's work. He noted its interest in developing contacts with the region's leading think tanks, including through joint research, conferences, and expert discussions.

Following the meeting, both sides affirmed their readiness to expand cooperation, step up expert exchange, and implement joint initiatives.

The Friedrich Ebert Foundation is Germany's oldest political foundation, operating in more than 100 countries. Its Regional Office in Central Asia is based in Almaty and coordinates work in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. Its main areas of focus are regional security, political dialogue, sustainable development, and the climate agenda.
