IICA and the Italian Institute for Asia Expand Research Cooperation
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a meeting between IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov and the Secretary General of the Italian Institute for Asia, Domenico Palmieri.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for implementing joint research projects aimed at studying key issues of regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

The importance of providing expert support for the "Central Asia – Italy" platform was emphasized, as such initiatives foster dialogue and cooperation between the regions.

Think tanks play a crucial role in ensuring the platform’s effective operation. Special attention was given to the implementation of agreements reached at the third "Central Asia – Italy" ministerial summit, held in Rome in early 2024.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the heads of the institutes signed a memorandum of understanding, which provides for regular exchanges of experience, joint events, and research initiatives. Both sides expressed confidence that this agreement will serve as a solid foundation for long-term and productive cooperation between IICA and ISIA.

The Italian Institute for Asia (ISIA) was founded in 1975 and actively collaborates with Italy’s social and cultural institutions, as well as with official representations of numerous Asian countries. ISIA seeks to support Italy’s diplomatic network and strengthen socio-cultural ties that serve as a basis for economic cooperation.
