IICA and Turkish Think Tank Strengthen Research Cooperation
On August 11, IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov held an online meeting with Alev Kılıç, Director of the Turkish Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM, Avrasya İncelemeleri Merkezi).

The meeting focused on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including the organization of joint events and the preparation of joint research publications.

Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the IICA, highlighted the positive momentum in Uzbekistan–Türkiye relations, as well as the growing importance of multilateral regional cooperation formats, which offer additional opportunities to further deepen comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Alev Kılıç noted the steady development of bilateral relations between Türkiye and Uzbekistan, highlighting the countries’ strong historical and cultural ties. He also underscored Uzbekistan’s role as one of Ankara’s key strategic partners in Central Asia.

The meeting underscored the importance of establishing effective mechanisms for cooperation between think tanks in Uzbekistan and Türkiye.

Following the meeting, the IICA and AVİM signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a solid foundation for a long-term partnership.

The key areas of cooperation include joint conferences and roundtable discussions, collaborative research, and co-authored publications on interstate relations, as well as economic and cultural ties.

It is worth noting that the first meeting between IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov and AVİM Director Alev Kılıç took place in Ankara on June 19, laying the groundwork for further cooperation between the two think tanks.

Established in 2009, the Center for Eurasian Studies (AVİM) is a Turkish think tank specializing in political, economic, and international developments across Eurasia.
