IICA and the Youth Parliament Join Forces to Shape a New Generation of Central Asian Leaders
On July 2, the International Institute for Central Asia hosted a meeting between the Institute’s Director, Javlon Vakhabov, and representatives of the Youth Parliament under the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for expanding cooperation, including support for youth initiatives, broader engagement of young professionals in research and expert activities, and the implementation of joint projects.

IICA Director J. Vakhabov emphasized that the youth of Uzbekistan are playing an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s modern image, advancing its initiatives, and strengthening its international standing. He expressed the Institute’s readiness to support promising ideas and projects of young leaders, and invited members of the Youth Parliament to become actively involved in IICA’s work as part of its expert agenda.

Chairman of the Youth Parliament O. Sobitov stated that, for young parliamentarians, IICA represents a benchmark of professional research work and one of the country’s key intellectual platforms. According to him, partnership with the Institute will help bring the Youth Parliament’s activities to a qualitatively new level and promote the “Central Asia + Youth” format as a platform for uniting young leaders of the region around a shared development agenda.

Following the meeting, IICA and the Youth Parliament signed a Cooperation Agreement. The document provides support for the activities of young parliamentarians, as well as the organization of scientific conferences, briefings, seminars, and roundtable discussions at the national and international levels.

The signing of the Agreement marked an important step toward strengthening ties between the expert community and the country’s youth institutions. Its implementation will help establish a sustainable mechanism of cooperation aimed at enhancing the research capacity of young people, expanding their participation in public, political, and expert life, and developing new approaches to promoting regional cooperation.
