Meeting with German Expert Held at IICA
On 30 April this year, a meeting was held at the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) with Valentin Krüsmann, expert on international development at the Centre for East European and International Studies (ZOiS).

During the meeting, issues of transport connectivity, the regional dynamics of Central Asia, and the deepening of expert-level cooperation were discussed.

The German expert highly assessed the systemic nature of the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, emphasizing their role in forming a qualitatively new level of trust in the country on the global stage.

The growing importance of developing new transport corridors was noted, particularly the advancement of the Middle (Trans-Caspian) Route and the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project, which contribute to transforming the region into a “global land crossroads.”

The importance of involving Afghanistan in infrastructure projects, including the Trans-Afghan railway, and developing strategic partnership with the European Union in attracting investments, energy, and logistics was also highlighted.

It was emphasized that the Khiva Forum of Analytical Centers “Central Asia – Germany” serves as a highly effective platform for institutionalizing bilateral and multilateral expert cooperation.

Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their mutual interest in further developing expert interaction, continuing contacts amid global uncertainty, as well as preparing joint analytical assessments and monitoring the development of the region’s transport architecture.
