The meeting focused on the opportunities for further development of relations between Central Asia and the European Union, as well as opportunities to expand expert and research cooperation.
Javlon Vakhabov noted that the Central Asia–EU Summit in Samarkand marked an important step in elevating relations between the two regions to a new level. He emphasized that cooperation is increasingly becoming strategic and practical, covering sustainable development, transport connectivity, trade, energy, and regional stability.
The parties also discussed the new opportunities created by the official visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Brussels and the signing of the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between Uzbekistan and the European Union.
- Anghel highlighted the positive dynamics in relations between the European Union and Central Asia, as well as the growing interest of European partners in deepening cooperation with the countries of the region in trade, investment, finance, transport, and logistics.
It was emphasized that stronger cooperation between research centers and academic institutions can contribute to a better understanding of regional processes, support expert dialogue, and help develop practical joint initiatives.
At the end of the meeting, the parties reached an agreement to further develop cooperation between IICA and the European University Institute, including joint expert events, research projects and expanded academic exchanges.
