IICA Holds Meeting with Chinese Delegation
On July 14, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) Javlon Vakhabov held a meeting with a delegation from the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (IREECAS), led by its Director Sun Zhuangzhi.

The meeting focused on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between the IICA and the IREECAS, as well as key issues on the Uzbekistan–China cooperation agenda.

Sun Zhuangzhi highly commended Uzbekistan’s socio-economic transformation and the progress made in strengthening the partnership between Tashkent and Beijing, emphasizing the important role played by the leaders of the two countries in advancing bilateral relation.

Javlon Vakhabov highlighted the importance of further deepening cooperation between the analytical centers of the two countries, amid increasing diplomatic activity at the highest level.

Special attention was given to establishing regular exchanges between researchers, implementing joint educational initiatives, and conducting scientific studies in areas of mutual interest.

Concluding the meeting, the participants expressed their shared interest in further expanding research cooperation, enhancing expert dialogue, and advancing joint initiatives.

The IREECAS is a specialized research institution of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences dedicated to studying political, economic, social and humanitarian developments across Eurasia. In 2022, the IICA and the IREECAS signed a Cooperation Agreement, followed by the adoption of a Joint Action Plan in 2024 aimed at further strengthening research cooperation.
