Expert Dialogue Between Uzbekistan and Iran Reaches a New Level
IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov met with Alireza Gholipour, Vice-President of the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran.

The two discussed the current state and prospects for the further development of Uzbekistan–Iran relations, along with opportunities for broadening engagement between the expert and analytical communities of the two countries.

Javlon Vakhabov stressed the value of steadily deepening ties between the research communities of Uzbekistan and Iran. Direct, regular dialogue between think tanks, he noted, allows for a fuller understanding of the processes underway in Central Asia and the Middle East, an exchange of assessments, and the development of practical proposals on issues of mutual interest.

For his part, Alireza Gholipour pointed to Uzbekistan's particular importance for Iran and expressed interest in establishing a long-term partnership between the two institutions. Particular attention went to the prospects for expanding expert dialogue on regional connectivity, trade and economic cooperation, and research and analytical engagement, as well as other areas of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the sides affirmed their interest in broadening practical cooperation between IICA and IPIS.

The Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran is Iran's leading foreign-policy think tank, founded in Tehran in 1983. Its main areas of work include research on foreign policy and international relations, the development of expert and public diplomacy, and educational activities.
