The Head of State and the Vice President of the European Commission discussed a wide range of issues, including priority projects for the Kyrgyz Republic, investments, financing, prospects for banking relations and regional security issues.
The President stressed the importance for Kyrgyzstan of the upcoming Investors Forum, which will be held in Brussels on 29-30 January and is aimed at developing transport links.
Discussing human rights in the Kyrgyz Republic, the Head of State noted active civil society, media freedom and unrestricted access to the Internet, emphasising the importance of reliable information in the online space.
Vice-President of the European Commission Margaritis Schinas in turn emphasised the importance of positive changes in Central Asia and expressed readiness to deepen cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic. He noted that the European Commission actively supports these positive trends, considering the current period as a historical moment.
Margaritis Schinas expressed confidence that co-operation will be strengthened in the sphere of financial and economic partnership. The Vice President of the European Commission noted that his visit to Kyrgyzstan focuses on climate projects, digitalisation issues and development of transport corridors. He emphasised the readiness of the European Commission to support Kyrgyzstan's strengths in these areas.
