The meeting highlighted the high level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is based on the traditions of friendship and good neighbourliness. Working visits of government delegations of the two countries at different levels, ties in trade and economic sphere, fuel and energy complex, transport and communications, construction and agriculture, as well as between representatives of business communities contribute to the development of relations.

The key topic of discussion was co-operation in the oil and gas sector, for the expansion of which, according to the parties, new opportunities are opening up.

Berdimuhamedov spoke in favour of an exchange of views between specialists in this sector to find new forms and methods of cooperation and expressed readiness of the Turkmen side to consider all proposals and initiatives of the Iranian partners.
