Kazakhstan received a grant from the World Bank Pandemic Fund
The official launch of the World Bank Pandemic Fund grant took place in Astana with the participation of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kazakhstan, Mikaela Friberg-Stori, the WHO Representative in Kazakhstan, Dr Skender Syll, the Executive Director of the Pandemic Fund, Priya Basu, and representatives of diplomatic missions.

The Pandemic Fund will be used to address the country's health system challenges in epidemiological surveillance, border control, laboratory security, early detection and response, and staff training.

The WHO Country Office in Kazakhstan will coordinate the implementation of this grant in the country and provide overall technical support to the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan was one of 36 countries in the WHO European Region to receive a US$ 19 million country grant and a US$ 27 million multi-country grant over three years.
