The meeting discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral relations and some international and regional issues.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Emomali Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the opportunity of the meeting and congratulated the Russian side on the organisation and holding of the international tournament "Games of the Future" at a high level.
The two heads of state praised the results of the Tajik-Russian high-level official talks held in Moscow in November 2023, as well as the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission held in December last year.
It was noted that the volume of bilateral trade turnover in 2023 increased by 2.5 per cent to 1 billion 800 million dollars and Russia retained its leadership in the total volume of foreign trade of Tajikistan.
A number of topical issues in other areas of mutual interest such as energy, agriculture, investments, migration, education and culture were also discussed and necessary agreements were reached.
