Shaanxi Province Strengthens Trade Ties with Central Asia
On June 18, a conference in Xi'an, China, marked a new chapter in economic and trade cooperation between Shaanxi Province and Central Asia. Shaanxi has utilized platforms like the Silk Road Expo and the Eurasian Economic Forum to boost these ties, resulting in a 2.4-fold increase in imports and exports in the first quarter of this year compared to 2023.
Xi'an Xianyang Airport now offers all six passenger routes to five Central Asian countries, and the growing number of China-Europe freight trains has established a new supply model. Yang Miao, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, noted that since 2023, 106 delegations have promoted cooperation in energy, chemicals, engineering, light industry, and textiles, with imports and exports up 178% in 2023 and 136.2% from January to May this year.
Plans include enhancing cooperation in manufacturing, modern agriculture, new energy, digital economy, green development, and smart cities, alongside developing logistics hubs and new transport routes to Central Asia.
