Key Outcomes of the Kyrgyz President's Visit to Uzbekistan
Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and Sadyr Japarov of Kyrgyzstan have inaugurated major cooperative projects in energy, transport, and textiles, enhancing bilateral relations.
Key Projects:
Solar Power Plants: Two plants with a combined capacity of 400 megawatts in Fergana and Namangan regions, supplying electricity to Kyrgyzstan.
Automobile Plant: A new plant in the Chuy region will manufacture cars and commercial vehicles, including Cobalt, Onix, and Tracker models, and trucks.
Textile Production: A new facility for sewing and knitwear items in Kara-Balta.
Strategic Goals:
Trade Growth: Aiming to increase bilateral trade to $2 billion through import substitution and cooperative projects.
Energy Cooperation: Emphasizing the Kambarata HPP-1 project and small hydropower development.
Mutual Visits: Scheduling visits and updating "roadmaps" to boost regional trade.
Bilateral Agreements:
The presidents signed a joint statement and 16 other documents, covering areas such as:
- Resort facilities in Issyk-Kul
- Mutual visits of citizens
- Uzbekistan's WTO accession
- Cooperation in construction, labor, culture, and civil service
These initiatives significantly strengthen the ties between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, fostering mutual growth and development.
