Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan to Launch Green Energy Corridor
The energy companies of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan have established a joint venture — Green Corridor Union LLC — to implement a project aimed at transmitting green electricity to Europe. The company is registered in Baku and will be headed by Farhad Mammadov.
On July 1, a founding agreement was signed by Azerenerji (Azerbaijan), National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan, and KEGOC (Kazakhstan).
The initiative is expected to enhance energy security and advance sustainable development goals. Starting in 2030, Uzbekistan plans to export surplus green electricity to Europe via Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan.
The project also envisions the construction of a submarine power cable across the Black Sea, linking Central Asia, the Caucasus, and Europe into a single energy corridor.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy, the country is prepared to export between 2 to 5 GW of electricity.
