Istanbul hosts a meeting of the OTS Council of Foreign Ministers
On 7 March 2026, an informal meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was held in Istanbul.

The event brought together the heads of the foreign ministries of the OTS member states, including Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan. The meeting was chaired by Hakan Fidan, MFA of the Republic of Turkey.

The participants discussed current geopolitical developments and exchanged views on key security issues. They also considered the prospects for developing a joint position of the Turkic states regarding the situation in the Middle East.

During the meeting, a Joint Statement was adopted reflecting the shared position of the parties regarding the ongoing armed conflicts in the Middle East. The document reaffirmed the commitment of the member states to further strengthening political dialogue and deepening coordination on issues of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the participants signed the Regulation on Cooperation with External Parties in the "OTS+" format, aimed at promoting dialogue, expanding partnerships, and deepening cooperation at the regional and international levels, as well as strengthening the role of the OTS in multilateral diplomacy.
