President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will pay a state visit to Georgia on July 2–3.
This will be the first top-level visit in 23 years. The last time an Uzbekistan head of state visited Georgia was in 2003.
The intensification of Georgia's contacts with the countries of Central Asia — including Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze's recent talks in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan, and the upcoming Uzbekistan–Georgia meetings at the highest level — reflects a qualitatively new stage in the interregional dialogue.
Against this backdrop, cooperation between Central Asia and the South Caucasus is visibly gaining momentum, gradually turning this region into one of the key routes for interregional trade, transport, and political and economic engagement.
