IICA Explores New Opportunities for the Development of the Andijan Region
Researchers of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) have conducted a comprehensive analysis of the socioeconomic potential of the Andijan region.

The work is being carried out under a new mechanism whereby Uzbekistan's leading think tanks are assigned to specific regions of the country and sectors of the economy in order to develop evidence-based and practically applicable proposals for their further development.

In its research, IICA draws on advanced international approaches to territorial development, combining statistical analysis, field research, and direct dialogue with local communities. This format makes it possible to take into account the specifics of each city, district, and mahalla; to identify not only existing challenges but also their underlying causes; and to pinpoint untapped reserves for economic growth.

Institute experts are carrying out field visits to enterprises, industrial zones, greenhouse facilities, and infrastructure sites, as well as holding meetings with representatives of the business community and mahallas. Particular attention is given to employment, investment, exports, industrial cooperation, the development of the services sector, and the efficient use of resources.

The work will result in a comprehensive analytical assessment of the development of the Andijan region, along with roadmaps for addressing systemic challenges and unlocking additional opportunities at the level of individual cities and districts.
