On 5 October 2026, the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) and India's Observer Research Foundation (ORF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in New Delhi on the sidelines of the first Central Asia–India Think Tank Forum.

The first Central Asia–India Think Tank Forum took place in New Delhi on 5–6 October 2026, jointly organised by the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) and India's Observer Research Foundation (ORF).

Within the framework of the Second Fergana Peace Forum in Khujand, Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, met with Serge Rumin, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the Promotion of Dialogue and Confidence-building.

Celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of the Republic’s independence were held in Tajikistan.

Two major facilities were inaugurated in Dushanbe ahead of the anniversary: the National Theatre and the National Stadium, designed to accommodate 30,000 spectators, which hosted a theatrical performance. The capital also held a ceremonial parade and a festive procession.

IICA strengthens partnership with the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation

On October 31, the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a roundtable discussion titled “Central Asia and the Nordic Countries: New Opportunities for Partnership” with the participation of H.E. Alexander Stubb, President of Finland. Within the framework of the event, a Cooperation Agreement was signed between the International Institute for Central Asia and the Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation.
