During the discussion, both sides exchanged views on current regional trends and the ongoing integration processes in Central Asia, and explored avenues for future cooperation between IICA and Finnish research institutes.
Ambassador Raisanen was briefed on IICA’s work and its priorities in analysing foreign–policy initiatives, supporting interregional dialogue formats, and organising expert events. He commended Uzbekistan’s efforts to deepen regional cooperation, describing Central Asia as “a cradle of stability” and highlighting President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s pivotal role in advancing integration.
The meeting also examined opportunities to establish links with leading Finnish research institutions, including the Finnish Institute of International Affairs and the Aleksanteri Institute at the University of Helsinki. Ambassador Raisanen expressed his readiness to facilitate partnerships with Finnish academic and expert bodies focused on Central Asia.
Particular attention was paid to organising joint events and expert discussions—such as lectures, workshops, and research programmes— especially in light of Finland’s incoming OSCE Chairmanship.
In closing, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular contact and to developing concrete initiatives aimed at expanding academic and analytical cooperation.
