As part of a working visit to Spain, the Deputy Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) Sh. Fayziev took part in the conference “Uzbekistan at the Crossroads: Regional Dynamics and Iberian Relations” and a roundtable discussion on Central Asian security, held on February 24 in Madrid.

The events were organized by the Uzbekistan Embassy in Spain with the support of the University of Madrid, the cultural center “Casa Asia”
(«The House of Asia») and the Institute for Debates and Security Policy Analysis of Spain (IDAPS).

The discussions focused on the current state and future prospects of Uzbekistan–Spain cooperation, regional interaction within the “Central Asia–European Union” format, and strengthening expert and analytical collaboration.

Spanish experts gave a high assessment to Uzbekistan-Spain interaction and emphasized the significant potential for deeper cooperation in renewable energy sources, transport and logistics, tourism and education.

Particular attention was paid to establishing regular think-tant to think-thank dialogue and holding expert events aimed at developing coordinated proposals for the advancement of bilateral and regional cooperation.

Participants expressed interest in institutionalizing regular engagement on logistics connectivity, energy, regional security, and cultural and educational exchanges.
