The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted a meeting between its Director, Javlon Vakhabov, and Rebecca Nadin, Director of the Global Risks and Resilience Programme at the UK’s Overseas Development Institute (ODI), along with Senior Advisor Olena Borodina.

During the discussion, the parties examined the current state of expert cooperation between IICA and ODI and exchanged views on pressing issues of regional development and resilience. It was highlighted that collaboration between the two institutions has already laid a foundation for regular exchanges of analytical materials and expert insights aimed at advancing practical initiatives in sustainable development and regional cooperation.

Particular attention was given to the implementation of understandings reached during the previous meeting in Tashkent.

The meeting also explored opportunities for further coordination, strengthening research ties, and expanding formats of joint work, including expert dialogues, analytical publications, and engagement with international partners.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining a constructive dialogue and developing a long-term partnership to bolster research capacity and promote harmonized approaches to regional and global resilience challenges.

The Overseas Development Institute (ODI, London) is the UK’s leading independent think tank specializing in international policy, global risks, and sustainable development.
