IICA Director Meets with ADA University Leadership
On February 18 in Baku, Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), met with Fariz Ismailzade, Vice Rector of ADA University.
The discussions focused on expanding cooperation between universities, research institutions, and think tanks in Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan, as well as opportunities for joint projects and expert exchange.
 
Director Vakhabov noted that rapidly growing ties between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan are increasing demand for analytical support and academic cooperation. He stressed that that strengthening academic dialogue plays a key role in enhancing mutual understanding and achieving a more comprehensive assessment of regional processes.
 
Vice Rector Ismailzade highlighted the strong momentum in bilateral cooperation in education and science. He also referred to Uzbekistan’s role in rebuilding Karabakh, including the construction of the Mirzo Ulugbek School, describing such projects as an important contribution to humanitarian ties and broader regional cooperation.
 
The two sides explored practical ways to strengthen collaboration between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan think tanks, including regular expert exchanges and joint initiatives aimed at improving connectivity between Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
 
Following the meeting, the IICA and ADA’s Institute for Development and Diplomacy signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize and expand their partnership ties between the two institutions.
 
ADA University is Azerbaijan’s leading institution in international relations, diplomacy, public policy, and economics. Founded in 2006 as the Diplomatic Academy under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it later became a university and now serves as serves as a major center for education, research, and international policy dialogue.
