IICA Director Held Meeting at the Parliament of Finland
In Helsinki, IICA Director Javlon Vakhabov met with Ville Skinnari, Chair of the Groups of Friends with Uzbekistan and Central Asia in the Parliament of Finland.

The parties discussed issues related to strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and expanding cooperation between Central Asia and the Nordic countries.

Javlon Vakhabov noted that Finland was among the first countries in the Nordic region to establish a dedicated parliamentary group aimed at developing cooperation with the countries of Central Asia.

Particular attention was paid to the importance of further strengthening inter-parliamentary ties against the backdrop of the growing political and economic dialogue between the two countries.

It was emphasized that Finland’s experience in developing parliamentary democracy, the rule of law, and the protection of civil liberties is of considerable interest for the ongoing processes of legislative modernization in Uzbekistan.

Ville Skinnari accompanied President of Finland Alexander Stubb during his official visit to Uzbekistan in October last year.
