The meeting focused on Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation, the development of the “Central Asia + Japan” format, and opportunities to strengthen engagement between IICA and the Japanese Parliament.
J. Vakhabov noted the continued momentum in Uzbekistan–Japan relations and highlighted Japan’s important role in supporting Uzbekistan’s reform agenda. He underlined that human capital development remains one of the key areas of cooperation, particularly through education, science, and professional training.
K. Suzuki noted Japan’s growing interest in Uzbekistan as a promising partner for business and people-to-people cooperation. He also pointed to the increasing number of Uzbek citizens coming to Japan for work and study.
The meeting reaffirmed both sides’ interest in further strengthening Uzbekistan–Japan cooperation, both bilaterally and within the “Central Asia + Japan” dialogue, including through parliamentary and sector-specific engagement.
The Japan–Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship League is an interparliamentary group established in Japan’s legislature in 2002 to support bilateral ties. It brings together more than 40 members of the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors of Japan’s National Diet and serves as an important platform for political dialogue and broader cooperation between the two countries.
