As part of the internship, IICA employees took part in the international conference “C6: A Single Region, a Shared Future – Strengthening Strategic Dialogue,” organized by the Center for Analysis of International Relations and Multiculturalism.
During the event, participants discussed opportunities for deepening strategic dialogue within the C6 format, including the development of coordinated approaches and the establishment of sustainable cooperation mechanisms in the areas of the economy, transport and logistics, regional security, and sustainable development. The importance of strengthening expert cooperation and expanding interaction between research institutions in Central Asia and Azerbaijan was also emphasized.
In addition, IICA researchers got familiar with the activities of several leading universities in Azerbaijan, including the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and ADA University. During these visits, the sides discussed modern approaches to developing academic mobility, expanding international educational programs, and engaging young people in research initiatives.
Moreover, IICA researchers took part in a roundtable discussion titled “Uzbekistan–Azerbaijan: The Architecture of Allied Cooperation,” organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan. During the event, participants discussed the state of Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations, the most promising areas of economic and investment cooperation, the development of transport and energy corridors, as well as the potential for cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture, and digital transformation.
A meeting with Azerbaijani parliamentarians was also held. The event was attended by deputies of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, including chairpersons of relevant committees, members of the Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan interparliamentary friendship group, as well as representatives of the expert community, public organizations, and figures from fields of science and culture. The participants emphasized that Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations have now reached a qualitatively new level. Political and expert dialogue has intensified significantly, and the interparliamentary dimension has become one of the key areas of cooperation.
During their stay in Baku, IICA staff also got familiar with the activities of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Azerbaijan. Particular attention was paid to the information and analytical activities of the diplomatic mission, including monitoring the dynamics of bilateral Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations, preparing analytical materials, and supporting foreign policy initiatives.
The results of the internship contributed to strengthening professional contacts, facilitating the exchange of experience, and identifying new areas for long-term cooperation between the expert and academic communities of the two countries.
