Meeting Held Between IICA and Afghanistan’s CSS
A meeting was held between Amb. Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia (IICA), and Dr. Abdul Hai Kanit, Director of the Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future opportunities for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, and exchanged views on enhancing interaction between the think tanks of both countries.

IICA Director Amb. Javlon Vakhabov noted the importance of further expanding cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, including by strengthening ties between the think tanks of the two countries.

According to him, active and systematic dialogue between think tanks and academic circles would help improve the quality of analytical support for bilateral cooperation, thereby contributing to the further deepening of relations between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan.

For his part, CSS Director Dr. Abdul Hay Kanit highly appreciated the current state of Uzbekistan and Afghanistan relations, emphasizing the existence of stable and constructive cooperation at the political level, in the field of security, and in trade and economic affairs.

The Afghan side also reaffirmed its readiness to strengthen regional connectivity, expand political dialogue, and promote Afghanistan as an “important bridge” between Central and South Asia.

Concluding the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to further develop practical and research cooperation and to implement joint initiatives aimed at strengthening the Uzbekistan and Afghanistan partnership.
