IICA and Harvard University Discuss Areas of Academic Cooperation
The International Institute for Central Asia (IICA) hosted an online meeting between its Director, Javlon Vakhabov, and Nargis Kassenova, Director of the Program on Central Asia at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University.

During the conversation, the two sides exchanged views on current trends in academic research on Central Asia and discussed potential avenues for deepening cooperation between IICA and Harvard University. Particular attention was paid to organizing joint scholarly events, coordinating research initiatives, and expanding expert networks between regional analytical institutions and international academic centers.

Nargis Kassenova emphasized the importance of establishing sustained collaboration between research institutes, noting a growing interest in Central Asia in developing joint academic projects and deepening intellectual dialogue. In this context, she expressed interest in fostering new partnership formats involving IICA.

In turn, Javlon Vakhabov highlighted that one of IICA’s strategic priorities is the expansion of international academic cooperation and the Institute’s engagement in global research networks. He expressed readiness to explore concrete areas of collaboration with the Davis Center, including thematic forums, expert meetings, and educational programs focused on the humanities, social issues, and regional development.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed to maintain regular working contacts in order to align future initiatives and build a sustainable platform for academic exchange.
