During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Afghan cooperation in a regional context, noting the steady development of mutually beneficial relations.
Particular attention was paid to the expansion of trade and economic ties, including the implementation of agreements under the preferential trade arrangement. The sides also addressed water resource management issues and emphasized the importance of the recent international forum on water issues involving Central Asian countries and Afghanistan as an effective platform for developing coordinated approaches.
The parties further discussed priorities for cooperation between analytical and research institutions of the two countries, in particular interaction between IICA and the Center for Strategic Studies under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan.
It was noted that Afghanistan is an integral part of broader regional processes, and its involvement in Central Asian initiatives contributes to strengthening connectivity with South Asia.
Following the meeting, both sides confirmed their mutual interest in further advancing cooperation, including at the level of think tanks and joint research initiatives.
