During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities for establishing cooperation between IICA and PRIO aimed at increasing awareness of contemporary developments and dynamics in Central Asia and the Nordic countries.
Particular attention was given to the development of joint research and expert dialogue on issues of mutual interest, including peacebuilding, mediation, and conflict prevention.
Javlon Vakhabov noted that Central Asia has become one of the few regions in the world that has managed to resolve long-standing differences through peaceful means and its own efforts, making peacebuilding an important pillar of the region’s foreign policy.
At the same time, similarities between Central Asia and the Nordic region were highlighted in terms of regional cooperation and foreign policy priorities, which gives particular relevance to strengthening ties between think tanks of the two regions.
The sides agreed to continue dialogue and develop partnerships through joint projects, expert consultations, and participation in international conferences.
