The meeting discussed priority areas of cooperation in promoting dialogue, peace mediation, and strengthening regional stability, as well as approaches to supporting international efforts aimed at fostering peace and sustainable development in various regions.
It was noted that Norway consistently plays an active role in advancing peace initiatives and mediation efforts. In particular, in 2022 Oslo hosted the first talks between representatives of the Taliban, Western diplomats, and members of Afghan civil society aimed at discussing ways to address the humanitarian crisis and prevent the country’s international isolation. According to participants, these meetings marked the first official dialogue involving Taliban representatives in Europe since 2021.
Javlon Vakhabov emphasized that such a pragmatic approach to maintaining dialogue and supporting peaceful solutions strongly resonates with Uzbekistan’s consistent policy aimed at promoting peace, stability, and constructive international engagement with Afghanistan.
