Uzbekistan Elected to UN Economic and Social Council
Uzbekistan has been elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the 2025-2027 term.
The elections were held on June 7, 2024, at the UN headquarters in New York, with Uzbekistan receiving 185 out of 193 votes.
Uzbekistan has been elected to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the term 2024-2026. This milestone highlights the country’s growing influence in international affairs and its commitment to sustainable development. Membership in ECOSOC will enable Uzbekistan to actively engage in global discussions on economic, social, and environmental issues, and to contribute to the development and implementation of international standards and recommendations. Uzbek government officials emphasized that this achievement not only strengthens the country’s position on the global stage but also supports improvements in domestic socio-economic conditions.
