EU and UNDP Introduce Solar Drip Irrigation in Uzbekistan
The EU and UNDP have launched a solar-powered drip irrigation system in Uzbekistan's rural Akkurgan District to tackle water scarcity and support agriculture.
This innovative system uses solar panels to pump water from a 180-meter well, irrigating 0.8 hectares and benefiting 10 households.

It saves up to 60% more water than traditional methods.

EU's Wim Riepma and UNDP's Akiko Fujii praised the project's impact on sustainable agriculture and its contribution to Sustainable Development Goals. Part of the EU-AGRIN project, this initiative enhances food security and income for local families. Resident Maftuna Akhmedova noted improved garden productivity during hot, dry summers.
