Advancing the 'Yashil Makon' Initiative
Tashkent, September 11, 2024 – The Ministry of Ecology of Uzbekistan, in collaboration with UNDP, UNECE, and UNHCR, launched a joint project under the "Yashil Makon" initiative.
The project aims to restore ecosystems through afforestation and support vulnerable communities in the Surkhandarya region.
Minister Aziz Abduhakimov emphasized the initiative's role in building a sustainable future. UN partners highlighted the importance of cooperation for long-term environmental and economic benefits, including carbon credit trading to boost resources for the initiative's success.
