The discussion focused on expanding bilateral cooperation, strengthening ties within the “Central Asia + Italy” framework, and establishing direct contacts between leading think tanks of the two countries.
Director Vakhabov provided an overview of the Institute’s activities, outlining its key objectives and priorities, and briefed the Ambassador on current developments in Central Asia, including the Seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State held in Tashkent in 2025.
Ambassador De Sanctis noted that, thanks to the political will of the leaders of both countries, Uzbekistan–Italy relations have reached a new level, contributing to stronger trade and economic ties as well as expanded cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
Particular attention was given to the progress of regional cooperation and the growing role of the Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State as an important platform for ensuring stability and sustainable development in the region.
The sides also discussed strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and Italian think tanks to jointly explore perspective areas of collaboration and develop proposals for the bilateral agenda and further intergovernmental cooperation.
The meeting concluded with both sides expressing their readiness to deepen bilateral engagement and expand expert dialogue aimed at building a long-term and mutually beneficial partnership.
