During the discussion, the parties explored opportunities for further developing Uzbekistan–Finland cooperation in the field of education, including ways to draw on Finland’s internationally recognized experience in high-quality teacher training and the introduction of modern, student-centered learning approaches.
Javlon Vakhabov noted that in Uzbekistan education is viewed as a key foundation for the country’s long-term competitiveness and sustainable development. In this regard, it was emphasized that preschool enrollment has reached 78 percent, the number of students in higher education has exceeded 1.5 million, and more than 90 percent of schools across the country are connected to the Internet.
The important role of Finland in supporting education reforms in Uzbekistan was also highlighted, including through the implementation of the Nordic International School initiative based on the Finnish model in Tashkent, the development of cooperation in digital education, and expert exchanges, including through engagement with the UNICEF Global Learning Innovation Hub in Helsinki.
In conclusion, the parties discussed opportunities for launching new joint initiatives in vocational and teacher education, including the organization of training programs and study visits for Uzbek educators to Helsinki to learn from Finland’s advanced educational practices.
