Javlon Vakhabov: Uzbekistan Is Interested in Advancing Concrete Economic Projects with the Greater Seattle Region
During his working visit to Seattle, Javlon Vakhabov, Director of the International Institute for Central Asia, met with Shannon Braddock, President and Chief Executive Officer of Greater Seattle Partners.

The meeting focused on opportunities for expanding trade and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Greater Seattle region, including in technology, education, innovation, the green economy, logistics, agricultural processing, and international trade. Particular attention was given to opportunities for building more direct ties between the business communities of Uzbekistan and Washington state.

It was noted that Greater Seattle Partners can play an important role in promoting Uzbekistan as a more visible and practical partner for the region’s business and innovation community. Greater Seattle is one of the most dynamic economic centers in the United States, with a gross regional product of approximately $600 billion, more than 2.32 million jobs, and around 290,000 companies. The region is home to, or has a strong presence of, global corporations such as Amazon, Microsoft, Boeing, Costco, Starbucks, Alaska Airlines, T-Mobile, Expedia, and others.

Javlon Vakhabov noted that the opening of the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Seattle creates new opportunities for more systematic engagement with the U.S. Pacific Northwest. He emphasized that Uzbekistan is interested not only in expanding political dialogue with the United States, but also in advancing concrete economic projects involving regions, companies, universities, and development institutions.

According to him, Seattle’s technology ecosystem, as well as the region’s experience in innovation, education, aviation, logistics, green energy, and workforce development, are of particular interest to Uzbekistan. In this regard, cooperation with Greater Seattle Partners can serve as a practical channel for establishing contacts with investors, sectoral companies, startups, and educational institutions.

For her part, Braddock emphasized Greater Seattle Partners’ interest in exploring new areas of cooperation with Uzbekistan as a rapidly developing market in Central Asia.
